Our Favourite New York Jets Facts
The Jets play their home games at the MetLife Stadium located in East Rutherford, New Jersey. They share the stadium with the New York Giants and can hold a capacity of approximately 82,500 Jets fans.
The Jets have one Super Bowl win. They were victors of Super Bowl III in 1969 which is their only Super Bowl appearance, making them one of the two teams who have appeared in a single Super Bowl and won (the other team who has achieved this is the New Orleans Saints). The Jets defeated the Baltimore Colts 16-7 for their Super Bowl victory.
Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback for the Jets. Rodgers is considered one of the greatest quarterbacks and has been playing in the NFL since 2005. He has been on the Jets roster since 2023.
The New York Jets got their name in 1963 to reflect the modern, fast-paced nature of both the sport and the city they represent. At the time, the team was based near LaGuardia Airport in Queens, and the name was chosen to symbolise the excitement and innovation of the jet age, which was a major technological leap forward during that era. The name also aligned with the team's goal of playing an explosive, aerial style of football.
The name "Jets" replaced their original name, the "Titans," and it also connected with the city’s association with aviation and technology.
The Jets’ head coach is Robert Saleh who is now in his fourth season with the team after joining in 2021. Before joining the Jets, Saleh was the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, where he built a reputation for his strong defensive schemes and leadership. Saleh is known for his energetic coaching style and focus on discipline and teamwork.
